The design approach respects and is inspired by the memory of the historic structure, while transforming the building to suit the needs of a modern, flexible performance space.

St. Paul Academy and Summit School, St. Paul, Minnesota
Along with being a new gateway to the campus, St. Paul Academy desired the arts to be more visible, while envisioning a contemporary state of the art facility capable of giving the school a new identity; one that integrates the arts more thoughtfully into campus life and student experience.

City of Wayzata, Minnesota
A partnership with the picturesque City of Wayzata to design an unobstrusive structure to accommodate an increase in visitors enjoying lakefront amentities while not detracting from the character of the lakefront setting.
Minnesota State Capitol—Restoration >
St. Paul, Minnesota
The five-year restoration touched virtually every aspect of the Capitol—from inside to outside, from the dome to the basement—renewing and modernizing the building for a new generation of Minnesotans.
Ramsey County Library—Shoreview >
The new library, operated by Ramsey County Libraries, replaced a functionally obsolete community library with the Shoreview Library as a new regional library. The exterior design seeks to celebrate the craft and experience of a book through the lens of contemporary architecture. Interior detailing highlights walnut-paneled conference and community rooms, fireplace, artwork, and expansive exterior views.
Walker Art Center Expansion >
The new entry pavilion and renovation unifies the formerly disjointed site and presents a clear, bold new identity for the Walker Art Center. Through a series of simple but complex moves, the pavilion, renovation and upper garden now manifest as a public heart for the sprawling Walker campus.
